feeling overwhelmed...

Well, I haven't been getting to do everything I would like to do. There just aren't enough hours in the day. I desperately need to get out and run. It just seems like I'm too tired after work. I always feel better after working out - I just need to take that first step.

Good news:
1. I'm into the Pikes Peak Marathon. I checked the entry list this morning and my qualifications were verified! I REALLY NEED to work out!!!
2. I got the ELC Jr High blog started. I don't know if any of the students will pay attention to it, but it is one more way to stay in touch. Plus, it forces me to keep up with what I'm doing.

Bad news:
1. I desperately need to clean house. And I mean DESPERATELY!
2. I will probably have to work this afternoon, so I'll be fighting against laziness when I need to run again.

After the adrenaline wears off...

Yesterday was a great day. I had a doctor appointment in the morning and found out that there was no sign of cancer in my blood work. Two months and six days cancer free! I was on cloud nine. Then, I got to work about an hour before registration opened for the Pikes Peak Marathon. I didn't think I'd ever be able to get onto the server, but I did! I'm in! What a perfect day! The stars were lining up for me. I didn't get to run or work out, but after running and working out for more than a week without a break, I guess I deserve to rest.

DAMN! I should have bought a lottery ticket yesterday!

I just looked at the TIR blog. It was a terrific race. I had a great time. Our pictures look great. The shirts were a fantastic idea. We are awesome! I can't wait until next year!

Todays workout:

Set 1 Set 2 Set 3 Set 4
situps 20 50 40 30
squats 30 20 50 40
pushups 40 30 20 50
lunges 50 40 30 20
row 1000m 750m 500m 250m

I'm proud of myself for finishing - I really wanted to quit a couple of times. Now I'm tired. I think yesterday's excitement and today's workout are just too much for me. Do you think anyone would notice if I crawled under my desk and took a nap?

Monday, Monday

You gotta love Mondays - NOT!!
It is so pretty outside and I just can't wait to get off of work. Sometimes having an office with a view is a detriment to good work practices!

This weekend, Angela and I walked the Cowtown Half Marathon. I know it was hard for her to not break into a run, but walking was good. Our time: 3:14. Not bad for walking!! Plus, it was good preparation for Bataan. I'm trying to decide if I want to wear my hiking shoes or my running shoes to the march. I really like the hiking shoes, but around mile 12 I could really feel my feet. Well, I've got a couple of weeks left to figure it out. I do know how my lips are going to feel after the march - they are killing me right now. They really got wind-burned during the Cowtown. That wind was fierce!

Sunday, Jeff, Angela, and I took Andrew and Mathias for a hike in Eureka Park. They boys had a good time exploring and trying to take turns being the leader. And EUREKA! what a park. It was beautiful. What a gem in Denton.

It's only been about a year

OK, so I'm not the best at doing these things. Remembering to sit down and write about my life is not something that I do. So, I'm just going to start over.

I'm getting nervous/excited about the TIR this year. I only have to run three legs for a total of 14.97 miles. BUT, it looks like my last leg will be the most challenging. For the most part, they are all straight runs - no hills or turns. I'm kind of worried about the boredom since headphones are strictly forbidden. (Last year we got a penalty.) I think the runs would be much easier with Guns N Roses or the Chili Peppers!

But, before TIR, I am walking the Cowtown half with my sister. She has an injury, so we are dropping from the full to the half.

My schedule for the next few weeks:
2/28 - Cowtown
3/7-8 - Texas Independence Relay
3/29 - Bataan Death March

Oh - don't forget, registration for Pikes Peak is March 11!
